"AITA for refusing to thank my partner after an abduction?"
u/shortfeistyfbi
I’m (40f) a senior FBI agent. My partner (42M) is also a senior FBI agent. While in the middle of an investigation, we had to split up due to circumstances of the job. He ends up with the easier task, as usual. I get the hard one and end up getting freaking abducted and held by a psycho lunatic. I’m not kidding. I was kept locked in an empty room, barely given food or water, had the lights on 24/7 so I couldn’t even sleep and to make matters worse, the guy that abducted me tried to shoot his shot, like we were at a bar or something. So anyway, I managed to figure a way out of this messed up situation, because that’s just how my mind operates. I wasn’t going to wait for help to come.
My partner shows up right as I freed myself, and is like, “Hey, I’m here to save you.” And I’m like, no—you didn’t rescue me, I rescued myself. You just walked in at the end and now you’re taking credit.”
The way I saw it, I was missing for almost two days!!!! To make matters worse, bro didn’t even call in backup and decided to wing it himself. WTF!
So anyway, because I wasn’t thankful and baking him cookies and stuff, people at the office are looking at me like I’m ungrateful for him totally having my back.
Am I the asshole?
Plot twist: Not AITA. It’s my FBI thriller, DarkBright. If Silence of the Lambs meets Stepford Wives is your vibe, you’ll love it.
