io9 is experimenting and it’s pretty darn cool. They’ve teamed up with Framestore, an awesome SFX company that I had the privilege of working with myself a few years ago.
Anyway, the two are collaborating on a story that is half visual, half prose. Framestore provides the visuals and writers crank out a flash fiction based on those visuals. They then narrow the submitted stories down to one via a public vote. Then they start all over with a new visual, except this time the writers must also continue the story as well as make it work with the visual. Pretty cool, huh?
A friend of mine, Matt Perry, is a finalist. His handle is Cog_of_Capitialism. The title of his story is, Release.
